Bonivital Pool Redevelopment

A vibrant renewal of this bustling indoor public pool in the Windsor Park community to grow its life span and reimagine its potential. The project focuses on enhancing accessibility and creating seamless user experiences from arrival through to swim. The redevelopment also consists of major mechanical upgrades to best serve the aquatic environment.­

The design modernizes the exterior façade and transforms the front of house area to awaken a connected landscape. The open lobby and reception area overlook the pool deck, alongside spacious universal changerooms and washrooms with barrier-free amenities. The pool deck gains fresh tilework, ceiling and walls that blend aqua hues and geometric accents to inspire a fresh, lively aesthetic. New user and staff amenities include a sauna, multi-purpose room and revamped administrative spaces.

Behind the scenes, a hybrid mechanical system replaces the antiquated gas-fired boiler system for improved air quality on the pool deck.  Above the pool, layered acoustic paneling conceals building systems and reduces noise transfer in the natatorium.

The revitalization aims to directly respond to the facility’s high volume of family users, offering both family and individual changerooms and a highly transparent environment.  A community aquatics destination for the future, Bonivital Pool fosters key principles of universal design and active design to create a more inclusive, energetic and socially-oriented locale.
