Architectural Technologist

Are you a strong communicator skilled at coordinating with diverse disciplines and preparing detailed working drawings to plan for a project’s success? We would like to hear from you.

Responsibilities

As Architectural Technologist, you will provide coordination and technical support in the timely and accurate preparation of construction documents, working closely with Interior Designers, Architects and Job Captains (Lead Technologist). The candidate will assist Project Team Leads with technical aspects of the design and may act in the role of technical team member on projects with complex scope, with the amount of supervision dependent on a project’s complexity. The candidate’s background in preparing construction documents, supervising a production team and knowledge of building materials and construction techniques will be applied to projects with limited to moderate scope. The candidate will provide assistance to the Interior Designer or Project Architect during various phases as outlined below:

Construction Documents Phase:

From coordinating field work and analyzing sketches to preparing working drawings and other documents, the candidate must ensure documents are complete, accurate and support a well-presented product.

Bidding and Negotiation Phase:

Prepare and distribute bid documents, respond to inquiries, issue contract addenda and assist in review.

Construction Administration Phase:

Attend periodically to support Contract Administrator and report on progress meetings, prepare project correspondence, and conduct periodic site visits to assess whether construction is in conformance with contract documents. Support Contract Administrator and design team to review and issue project revisions and clarifications, review submittals, and maintain project drawings or BIM models for project closeout.

Qualifications and Key Requirements

Diploma or Certificate in Architectural and Building Technology or equivalent from an accredited institution
Minimum of 5 years’ of experience
Certified Architectural Technologist
Proficient in Word processing, design, AutoCAD and Revit applications.
Knowledge of standard office policies and procedures
Knowledge of procedures for the production of construction documents
Background in building materials, specifications and construction techniques
Understanding of building codes and standards/engineering disciplines to coordinate work
Understanding of contractor coordination and various construction processes

Interior Designer

Are you an experienced Interior Designer passionate about creating beautiful, functional and sustainable environments across various design sectors?

Environmental Space Planning is seeking an Interior Designer to join our growing firm. We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate a strong commitment to high quality design and excellent client service while working in a collaborative, energetic environment. Our firm specializes in a variety of design sectors and past experience across diverse areas of work is an asset along with the knowhow to translate programmatic requirements into creative design solutions. Our investment in the firm’s continued growth requires the addition of an imaginative, collaborative and experienced Interior Designer.

Responsibilities

As Interior Designer, the candidate will be required to design and manage diverse projects of varying scopes and scales. The candidate will prepare programmatic and design evaluation criteria, reports, drawings, schedules and material selection, as well as coordinate with external engineering and consultant team members, steering the advancement of projects from schematic design through working drawings and construction to final occupancy and conducting project close-out efforts. The Interior Designer will provide project updates to the Client on a regular basis through clear, professional communication and may be required to give guidance, assign work or coordinate staff requirements as appropriate. Ensuring budget compliance is essential, along with maintaining the project schedule, design documentation and records. Project Status Reports are reviewed in collaboration with the Partner-in-Charge. The Interior Designer is required to perform all tasks with accuracy and completeness in a timely and professional manner with an unwavering dedication to a high quality of service and product.

Qualifications and Key Requirements

Bachelor or Master of Interior Design or equivalent from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience
Proficient in Word processing, design, AutoCAD and Revit applications.
Knowledge of standard office policies and procedures.
Understanding of and experience in the management of interiors projects, including programming, construction document preparation, contractor coordination, field observation and various construction processes.
Knowledge of interior building materials, specifications and interior detailing.
Knowledge of building codes and standards/experience dealing with authorities having jurisdiction.
Appropriate knowledge of engineering disciplines to evaluate and coordinate work done by consultants.

Project Architect

LM Architectural Group | Environmental Space Planning is seeking a Project Architect to join our growing firm. Our need is for a strong, creative and technical designer who seeks out the challenge and opportunity to collaborate within a diverse team, Client group and project portfolio. LM-ESP is a dynamic team of professionals with an established reputation for delivering high quality architectural and interior design services to clients across Canada for over 70 years. Our investment in our growth requires the addition of a career oriented, highly motivated Project Architect.

Responsibilities

The candidate will work closely and collaboratively with the firm’s Principals, Senior Associates & Project Managers, in a “project team” environment – the focus of the position is on the collaborative design and technical execution of projects – to successfully meet design intent and project goals. We are interested in someone who is passionate for developing architectural design and details with innovation, creativity, rigor, and independence while collaborating with and learning from others. Strong collaborative skills and flexibility are critical, and the desire to learn and grow is essential.

Work and collaborate closely with multiple project teams with strong organizational and communication skills.
Participate in all design stages for integrated design practice.
Prepare design and tender drawing packages including construction details and specifications.
Possess strong technical and detailing ability with construction knowledge.
Possess Construction administration experience and knowledge of local standards.
Assist in preparation and production of design and presentation materials.

Qualifications and Key Requirements

Graduate of a recognized professional architecture program.
Professionally Registered Architect with minimum three (3) years of Canadian experience.
Knowledge of sustainable design practices.
Exceptional design and communication skills (graphic, verbal, and written).
Proficiency in AutoCad, Revit, Sketch Up, and Rendering Software.

Contract Administrator

We are currently seeking a Senior Contract Administrator who would be responsible for providing architectural construction services for projects ranging from $2M to over $50M.

Responsibilities

On-site construction reviews and meeting attendance.
Preparation of written field reports.
Payment certification.
Processing construction-related changes.
Quality control document review.

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten (10) years experience in either an architectural or construction firm, have a CT (Arch) or similar designation and be fully versed in AutoCAD, Revit, Word, Excel and MS Project software.
