Minnewasta Golf and Country Club

Morden, Manitoba

A new beginning, the clubhouse at Minnewasta Golf & Country Club epitomizes turning difficult circumstances into an exciting future. After the former clubhouse was lost to a fire, the Club’s leadership began to plan for its next chapter. LM-ESP was secured to design a custom clubhouse to serve as a year-round community asset in the region.

Situated on the edge of the Pembina escarpment, the design accentuates the 180-degree views overlooking the course. Users can connect to the natural surroundings through fully glazed, floor-to-ceiling windows in interior spaces, or by spending time on the expansive outdoor patio steps away from the course. Exterior pathways encircle the facility, uniting course activities with the social atmosphere and amenities at the clubhouse.

As a major investment in the region, the design emphasizes diverse use. Operable wall systems allow the 150-person dining room to seamlessly open to the 67-person Members’ Lounge. This feature promotes flexible use of space to accommodate various tournaments, weddings or other events. The added commercial kitchen supports a full-service restaurant on-site year-round. All amenities come together under one roof. The Pro Shop moves into the clubhouse and two golf simulators encourage fun, teaching and training during all four seasons.

Highlighted by a robust timber-frame structure, interior design elements balance nature-based materials with traditional accents to create a warm, relaxing and welcoming ambiance. At the same time, sustainable design principles are integrated throughout, preparing Minnewasta for its next era as a state-of-art, leisure attraction serving the greater region.

The design renderings created by LM-ESP highlight the earlier stages of the design process. The first depicts the exterior perspective, overlooking the 9th and 18th holes, and the second, the interior dining room.
