Centre Place Café, RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg

Winnipeg, Manitoba

Redesigned as part of RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg’s $180 million renovation and expansion in 2017, Centre Place Café provides a refreshing contemporary food and beverage experience befitting of Manitoba’s premiere conference destination. Featuring a dynamic menu for in-house patrons as well as catered events, the latest iteration of the café presents a sleek and sophisticated contemporary design that commands attention while streamlining operations for both staff and patrons.

To help stand out and draw in more clientele passing through the convention centre, the updated café design seeks to create visual contrast against the neutral colour scheme prevalent throughout the building. Bold and dark materials including a natural wood bulkhead, dark-wood frame and tile establish the café, drawing the eye towards the bright quartz assembly line. Strategic LED lighting highlights the food and beverage offerings and interior features, bringing the café to life and enhancing the backdrop through the subtle use of pattern and texture.

Complete with an expanded seating area that flows into a pedestrian overpass above York Avenue, the Centre Place Café offers a thoughtfully streamlined hospitality service for convention centre visitors. The project also included renovations to the back-of-house commercial kitchen, complete with new flooring and upgraded layout and equipment. Together, Centre Place’s design features enhance the visitor experience by optimizing the balance of beauty, efficiency, and modern convenience for patrons on the go.
