Bill and Helen Norrie Library, located in Winnipeg and designed by LM-ESP, is recognized with a 2023 Canadian Green Building Award in the Institutional (Small) Category presented by SAB Magazine.
Sustainable Architecture and Building Magazine (SAB) presents the Canadian Green Building Awards annually to recognize “excellence in the design and execution of Canadian residential and non-residential buildings of all types.”
We wish to congratulate the Client, the City of Winnipeg, and all industry partners involved in this project for a shared commitment to green building leadership.
“We are thrilled to see this project acknowledged for its social and cultural lens, contributing to a holistic sustainable design approach,” shared LM-ESP Principal, Corey Greenham.
Excerpt from Awards Jury:
“This project clearly articulated the social and cultural focus that has become the primary role of community libraries. Taking visual cues from the pre-settler Metis village that occupied the site, the building evokes the traditional ‘Big House’. The social, cultural and educational agenda is underpinned by the low embodied carbon and operating energy of the building.”
